We are incredibly proud to officially introduce The Old Library Trust. It has been the aim since opening our coffee shop to not only achieve a community focused, self sustaining business, but to actually give back financially to our local community! And now, just over two years after we first opened our doors, we are opening up for our first round of grant funding!
About the Trust |
The 2018 Funding Round |
The Old Library is a coffee shop and community hub run by Angela and Edward Crabtree situated right next to Caerphilly's Morgan Jones Park. As the name suggests, it is based in the building that was formerly occupied by the local authority library for the town prior to it moving to new premises in the town center.
The Old Library operates as a social enterprise and Angela and Ed decided that any profits generated over and above the amount needed to cover The Old Library's staff and running costs should be given to local good causes. The Old Library Trust has been established to give that money to the community. Angela and Ed advertised for trustees from within the local community to help establish the trust and to take decisions on how the grants should be awarded. There are currently 5 trustees, namely: Angela Crabtree - Chair Michelle Aspey - Vice Chair Alison Bann _ Vice Chair Robert Roffe - Secretary Edward Crabtree - Treasurer |
This round of funding will be awarding several small grants ranging from £5 to up to £100 to community based projects in Caerphilly. Applying is easy, we just ask you to email us at charitableturst@theoldlibrarycaerphilly.co.uk explaining who you are, what you would like a grant for, and how this would benefit the community.
We will consider any applications for projects within the Caerphilly area. (details can be found in the guidance notes, below) The deadline for the application is March 26th 2018 and you will be informed if you are successful by the end of April. If you are successful all we ask is that you keep in touch with us and let us know and share how the grant has helped you achieve your aims! If you are interested in applying please download these guidance notes for full details and restrictions. |
